How slot RTP and volatility actually work
What return-to-player figures do and do not tell you, and why volatility matters more for short sessions.

RTP is a long-run average
Return to player is a theoretical figure measured across millions of simulated spins. It never predicts what happens in one session, and no RTP value makes a game profitable over time. Every slot has a built-in house edge.
Volatility describes the shape of results
High-volatility games pay less often but larger; low-volatility games pay small amounts more frequently. Neither changes the house edge, only how your balance moves.
Why this matters for budgeting
Set a fixed amount you are comfortable losing before you start, and treat it as the cost of entertainment. Gambling is never a way to make money or solve a financial problem.
